ABOUT LEXIPONTIX

Lexipontix is a structured yet flexible and highly individualized therapy programme for school–age children who stutter. It was developed in Greece by two Greek stuttering clinicians, George Fourlas and Dimitris Marousos.
 
The therapy programme is based on principles and practices of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Parent–Child Interaction Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Speech Management Techniques.
 
Therapy is about exploring, understanding, experimenting, discovering alternative ways of talk and aims at communication reconstruing. Parents are actively involved throughout the programme. Therapy develops as a role–play game between Lexipontix, the mouse of the words, and the superhero, the child and their alliance.
 
The Lexipontix Assessment Protocol (LAP) is also part of the Lexipontix Programme. It is an evidence–based assessment of the overall stuttering experience of the child and their family. It can be administered to any school–age child who stutters and to every child participating in Lexipontix Therapy.

Key features of the Lexipontix Programme.

The Formulation Chart: The ICF Adapted for School–Age CWS
Instead of focusing on shrinking "pathology", Lexipontix addresses the overall stuttering experience. The Formulation Chart serves as an assessment and treatment framework.
Lexipontix Against Superhero and Allies
Therapy unfolds as a role-play game based on a theme. The “Factory of Mind” is threatened by the mischievous mouse Lexipontix and defended by the superhero and their allies.
Minimal, Brief, Adaptable and Highly Individualized
Therapy lasts for 13 sessions, delivered over a four–month period. It consists of a Core and a Modular Structure. Clients' Best Hopes from therapy are addressed through the selection of appropriate clinical Modules.
Card and Boardgames, Missions and Experiments
Therapy is enjoyable. Allies are actively engaged through playful activities, including structured card and board games, as well as participation in "Special Times", "Missions", and "Experiments".
Goal Directed and Solution Focused

Solution Focused Brief Therapy provides the framework for problem free, solution focused talk in all sessions. The therapist, as a facilitator, asks questions eliciting responses that activate the resources of the child and the child system.
Towards Communication Reconstruing
Lexipontix aims at the child: To reconstrue their communicative role, to alter the definition of success and failure in communication, to respond in a meaningful way to the demands of the communicative event.

The Lexipontix Programme was created without funding and in our free time, inspired by our clients and their families, our commitment to clinical work with people who stutter, our professional partnership and friendship and our innate drive and curiosity to create new things. Over the years, we experienced tremendous joy, creativity, and fun while developing this project and even more while using Lexipontix with our clients.
