This asynchronous workshop serves as an introduction to the Lexipontix Programme. It is intended for Speech and Language Therapists/Pathologists, other healthcare professionals, as well as members of the stuttering community.
Overview
This asynchronous workshop serves as an introduction to the Lexipontix Programme. It is intended for Speech and Language Therapists/Pathologists, other healthcare professionals, as well as members of the stuttering community. The workshop aims to provide an overview of the content, and the theoretical and clinical rationale behind the programme.
It also introduces the “Factory of Mind” – the central theme on which Lexipontix Therapy is built – along with its protagonists: a Superhero, their Allies, and a mischievous mouse named Lexipontix. These characters play key roles in the Lexipontix role-playing game, which forms a core part of the therapeutic process.
In addition, the workshop offers introductory knowledge of the frameworks and theories that underpin the programme, namely: the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Parent–Child Interaction Therapy (PCI), and Speech Management techniques.
Some preliminary findings related to the efficacy of the Lexipontix Programme are discussed, alongside the next steps one may take to become trained in applying the Lexipontix Programme with clients.
The aim of this course is to offer a taster of the Lexipontix Programme to those who are interested in pursuing further training, or to those who wish to learn more about what Lexipontix entails.
